An active member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery since 1999, Dr. Bellanger was the first surgeon in Baton Rouge to perform the laparoscopic gastric bypass procedure and his practice is dedicated to the practice of bariatric surgery.
Dr. Bellanger is affiliated with the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation and is actively involved with research in bariatric medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and is past president of the Capital Area Medical Society.
Dr. Bellanger graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1992 and completed his general surgery training at the University of South Alabama Hospitals in 1997. Currently, Dr. Bellanger lectures across the country about the technique and results of Sleeve Gastrectomy.
